This course is for ESL teachers who want to learn how to prepare their students for the high-stakes IELTS test. It is a 17-week (4-month) course, a mix of self-led learning via MTS’s Moodle Learning Management System platform, along with videoconference face-to-face contact (guided learning hours) with expert IELTS teacher trainers. The teacher trainers will also carry out ongoing assessment and moderation of attendees.

Question: Are you a qualified EFL Teacher and an experienced IELTS Teacher who wants to obtain a Level 6 UK Certificate in teaching IELTS?

This "Reflexive Practice Course for IELTS Teachers" is for you to be fully prepared and qualified to enrol the Level 6 UK Certificate.

​

During this course, there will be opportunities to watch videos about teaching, listen to conversations, collaborate with other teachers, and read pertinent articles to inspire you to experiment with teaching techniques and ideas.  You will connect with your tutors as well as other course participants via zoom calls, and on LMS platforms. This is a great chance to put everything you have learned during a few months of IELTS teaching practice and reflect while you do so with us supporting you every step of the way. In addition, you will have access to the Modern English Teacher and English Teaching Professional digital journals

  1. an initial qualification in TEFL (international TESOL, TEFL, TKT, CELTA, DELTA, CertTESOL...)

  2. a minimum of 1 year IELTS teaching experience (proved by registrant's labour contract, payslip, employer's email...)

  3. a proof of your English proficiency close to C1 level minimum. If the candidate lacks valid proof as mentioned, they will be invited to an online interview with IELTS examiners at MTS UK.

  • Roisin Diamond has been teaching English for nearly ten years in Ireland and overseas. She is qualified to teach EAP, OET and IELTS and has also led CPD workshops and teacher training. She is a speaking examiner for Cambridge and a speaking and writing examiner for Oxford international group. She has recently qualified with an associate certificate in instructional design for digital courses. Roisin has codesigned this course and works at MTS as an IELTS tutor and teacher trainer as well as an Instructional Design Lead.

  • Emilia Jagnieża has been teaching English as a foreign language in the UK since 2003, and teaching and designing IELTS courses since 2009. She’s a DELTA qualified teacher and holds an MA in Linguistics as well as Qualified Teacher Status. She’s an expert in teaching reading for IELTS. Emilia is the Academic Manager for MTS and acts as the Course Director.

  • Rachel Kirsch is a DELTA qualified English language teacher, teacher trainer and published materials writer working both in the U.K. and overseas. In addition, she holds an MA in Applied Linguistics. Along with Rena Basak, she has written a variety of teacher training materials and courses for a variety of ages and contexts. Rachel is an experienced English language examiner and examiner trainer.

  • Rena Basak is an experienced teacher and teacher trainer with over 30 years’ experience both in the UK and overseas. She is DELTA qualified and holds a diploma in ELT Management. As an EFL manager she mentored and trained teachers to teach English and other subjects. She now freelances as a teacher trainer and materials writer. She has collaborated with Rachel Kirsch on numerous projects including course design and delivery and has published teaching materials for adults and young learners worldwide. In addition, Rena is an experienced English language examiner and examiner trainer.

IV.Graduation requirements:
  • Participants who attend 80% of the online classes with supervisors and complete all assignments in the program will be issued a certificate. Any student who fails to meet these requirements will not be issued a certificate and no refunds will be offered.

first.Q: My IELTS certificate is expired/ I haven't taken an IELTS tests before. Am I eligible for attending the course?
   A: If you can perform 4 skills (Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing) well in English and complete your assignments at academic level, you are more than welcome to join the course. However, we will not be responsible for registrants' failure of understanding English and doing assignments in English

2. Q:I am not a Vietnamese citizen. Can I join the course?
    A: Yes. The course is open for all citizens but we can only deliver hard copies to Vietnam at no extra cost at the moment. If you are outside of Vietnam and wish to receive a hard copy, please contact us for shipping options. 

3. Q:Is the IELTS Teacher Training Certificate equivalent to TESOL/ TEFL certificate?
    A: No, it is not. TESOL and TEFL certificates are to prove that one can teach English to speakers of other languages in general and is a must for anyone to be a certified teacher if their major is not Teaching English in Vietnam. Our course focuses on specific skills to deliver the best IELTS lessons. 

4. Q:Is the IELTS Teacher Training Certificate accredited?
   A: Yes, it is. Our course is accredited by ALAP (Awarding Language Acquisition for Professionals) which is an independent, international accreditation organization born from decades of experience in the provision of quality assured English language education and training. You can look for MTS in the accredited course provider list on ALAP official websiteHERE

5. Q:If I can't follow the whole program, can I resume the course, transfer to another person or get a refund?
    A: The course fee is only for 1 specific course and user and not transferable or refundable within 45 days of the scheduled course start date

6. Q:If I can't attend 80% of the online classes, can I still get the certificate?
    A: Participants have to attend at least 80% of the online classes and complete all assignments to receive an accredited certificate. Otherwise, participants have to pay for another course to rejoin the program.

7. Q:How long will it take to receive the pdf and hard copy of the certificate?
    A: Certificates will be issued within two months of the end of the course. We will contact you as soon as your certificates are available.

8. Q:How can recruiters trust the accreditation of my certificate?
    A: Your certificate is issued with ALAP accreditation so your recruiters can retrieve your details based on your certificate number on the ALAP website. It also comes with a reference letter from IELTS Training Country Manager in Vietnam for MTS UK and Director of HEW, Gem Nguyen, who is also available to provide a reference to recruiters and perspective hirers as needed.

9. Q:Is there a recording in case I miss an online class?
    A:  Yes. Participants can access the recordings of the classes on our platform.

ten.Q:How often do I have to do assignments in this course?
     A: Every module will have assignments which need to be completed. Your trainers will give you full instructions on the assignments.

11.Q: Will there be a graduation ceremony after I've completed the course?
     A: YES!!! You will be invited to a graduation ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City.

twelfth.Q: Will there be any job opportunities after my graduation at HEW?
      A: YES!!! We have connections with schools and language centers in Vietnam who would love to invite you for a job interview
