Graduation Day

I. What is a 120-hour TESOL certificate?

  • A certificate that helps increase the strength of one's resume for job application or application for Master Program

  • A minimum pedagogical certificate to become a certified teacher if one does not graduate with a major in English Pedagogy

II. Who is the 120-hr TESOL program for?

  • Students who graduated university or are currently studying for a degree in English Language, English Literature, Bachelor of English

  • Students with a strong background in English who want to learn more about pedagogical skills to improve their teaching skills

  • HEW's advice: If you are not an English-related graduate, you should take the PRE-TESOL course to develop a stronger background in Phonetics, Lexical Resources, Advanced Grammar and Basic Methodology to ensure you will be able to easily grasp the knowledge in the TESOL course. In addition, students who complete the PRE-TESOL program with HEW will receive a 2,000,000 VND voucher that can be used towards the fees for the 120-hr TESOL program

III. What is the method of studying the 120hr-program at HEW?

  • Students self-study the assigned weekly lessons of the TESOL UK academic program on the app in their free time

  • After completing the weekly online lesson, students participate in Reflection sessions with our TESOL mentors. These sessions consist of Q&A and group-work activities to ensure that all students thoroughly understand the content of the weekly lesson

  • Procedure:

  • Students register at HEW and receive their accounts on the first day of school 

  • Students study via the app in their free time and receive support from a TESOL Mentor according to the schedule above

  • After completing all the tests and achieving a minimum score of 50% or more on each of the 10 examinations, students will be receive a completion form for review before submission to INTESOL UK 

  • The process of reviewing and issuing certificates (.pdf and hard copies) to Vietnam from the UK will take place within 7-10 weeks. However, we can certify your course completion while you are waiting for your certificate if you need to apply for a job

  • We receive the hard copies of the certificate from the UK and conduct translation and notarisation with the signature of the Department of Justice for the students

  • We send certificates to students by post or students come to receive them directly at the HEW office in HCMC

  • Students are invited to participate in the next Graduation Ceremony being held in Vietnam ​

VII. Tuition and payment:

Tuition includes:

  • A 120-hr TESOL account of international standard program

  • 9 Zoom lessons with HEW board and mentors

  • A pdf TESOL Certificate (accredited)

  • A hard copy of the TESOL certificate (accredited)

  • A notarised translation of the TESOL certificate with the stamp of the Department of Justice of Vietnam

  • HEW souvenirs

​* If one has a credit card, they can PAY with 0% INTEREST when swiping the card at HEW office and choosing a term of 3 or 6 months

* If  one does not have a credit card, HEW's partners have a low-interest instalment program for students. Please contact HEW for more details

* If one wishes to have a dual certification (TESOL and TEFL), please contact us for the extra fee.

VI. Admission requirements:

Admission documents include:

  • 2 Consent forms (completed and signed by the student) provided by HEW

  • A copy of the passport page or identification card with a photo 

  • HEW Tuition Payment Confirmation (cash/ transfer)

  • NOTE: Students do NOT need to submit an English certificate but will have to certify their English level

XI: Frequently asked questions: 

1. Can I join the course if my major is not related to Linguistics?

  • Yes. However, if you are not an English-related graduate, we advise that you take the PRE-TESOL course to develop a strong background in Phonetics, Lexical Resources, Advanced Grammar and Basic Methodology to help you easily grasp the knowledge in the TESOL course. In addition, students who complete the PRE-TESOL program with HEW will receive a 2,000,000 VND voucher that can be used towards the fees for the 120-hr TESOL program

2. I am really interested in the course but I can't arrange time to attend Reflections. Can I still join the course and graduate?​

  • Reflection time is to support students and provide more practical knowledge of teaching English. However, it is optional and one can still join and graduate without joining our reflection sessions

3. How trustworthy is this 120-hour TESOL Certificate?​

  • HEW London is an official sub-franchise of INTESOL Worldwide UK and the entire curriculum is provided and moderated by INTESOL Worldwide UK so students can be assured of the quality. In addition, the ALAP accrediting body is the world leading accrediting group. On each certificate there is an anti-counterfeiting stamp and graduation code of each student. Currently, the ALAP-accredited TESOL certificate is accepted in Vietnam and in many other countries

4. My English is not very good. Can I join this program?

  • We strongly recommend students to improve their English before joining this course so that they can have a good academic background. We also offer one-on-one English classes for students to level up their English proficiency. However, students are not required to submit any ESL certificates but have to consent to their own English proficiency.

5. After getting a 120-hour TESOL Certificate, can I become a certified English teacher right away?​

  • The 120-hour TESOL Certificate can prove one's teaching English ability only. They have to prove their English proficiency by their Diploma Degree/ IELTS Certificate/ CAE Certificate....

6. How is the 120-hour TESOL Program different from 140-hour TESOL Program?

  • ​The 140hrs TESOL program will also include 120hrs of online learning on the app and Zoom just like TESOL 120hrs but it has an additional 20-hour Teaching Practice period including Observation, Lesson Planning and Feedback, Demo Teaching and Feedback. In addition, the Teaching Practice section will be displayed on the certificate to make one's certificate stand out. However, currently HEW can only conduct 20 hours of Teaching Practice in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

7. What is the difference between the120-hour TESOL Program and the 350-hour Diploma TESOL program?​​

  • The 120-hour TESOL program is for those who are not yet a full-time English teacher or need to legalise their qualifications to work as an English teacher, while the 350hrs Diploma TESOL is for English teachers who have teaching experience and want to learn advanced pedagogy and to become a teacher trainer in the future.
