I. What is a 140-hour TESOL Certificate?

II. Who should study TESOL 140hrs?

Graduate students majoring in English such as English Language, English Literature, Bachelor of English, English Translation and Interpretation.. want to become an English teacher

Students with good foreign language skills want to learn more pedagogical skills to improve their teaching skills

HEW advice: If one is not an English graduate, one should take the PRE-TESOL course to have a good background in Phonetics, Lexical Resources, Advanced Grammar and Basic Methodology and to help them easily grasp the concepts in TESOL course. Besides, HEW supports 2,000,000 VND for Pre-TESOL students to continue their studies in the international TESOL program.
III. What is the method of studying TESOL 140hrs at HEW?

Students self-study the assigned weekly lessons of the TESOL UK academic program on the app in their free time

After completing the weekly online lesson, students participate in Reflection sessions with our TESOL mentors twice per week. These sessions consist of Q&A and group-work activities to ensure that all students thoroughly understand the content of the weekly lessons

Students register at HEW and receive their account on the first day of school.

Students study on the software account in their free time and receive support from TESOL Mentor according to the schedule above

Students participate in 20 hours of Teaching Practice as arranged by HEW London and trainer

After achieving graduation results of 50% or more, students will be able to submit a completion form for approval.

The process of reviewing and issuing certificates (pdf and hard copies) to Vietnam from the UK will take place within 7-10 weeks. However, HEW can certify you for taking the course while you wait for your degree if you need to apply for a job

HEW receives the hard copy of the certificate and conducts translation and notarization with the signature of the Department of Justice for the students

HEW sends certificates to students by post or students come to receive them directly at the office

Students can participate in Graduation Ceremony when one is held in Vietnam

1. Can I join the course if my major is not related to Linguistics?

Yes. However, if you are are an English speaker, you can attend this course by consenting your level of English on our Consent Form
2. I am really interested in the course but I can't arrange time to attend Reflections. Can I still join the course and graduate?

Reflection time is to support students and provide more practical knowledge of teaching English. However, it is optional and one can still join and graduate without joining our reflection sessions
3. How trustworthy is this 140-hour TESOL Certificate?

HEW London is an official sub-franchise of INTESOL Worldwide UK and the entire curriculum is provided and moderated by INTESOL Worldwide UK so students can be assured of the quality. In addition, the ALAP accrediting body is the world leading accrediting group. On each certificate there is an anti-counterfeiting stamp and graduation code of each student. Currently, the ALAP-accredited TESOL certificate is accepted in Vietnam and in many other countries
4. My English is not very good. Can I join this program?

We strongly recommend students to improve their English before joining this course so that they can have a good academic background. We also offer one-on-one English classes for students to level up their English proficiency. However, students are not required to submit any ESL certificates but have to consent to their own English proficiency.
5. After getting a 140-hour TESOL Certificate, can I become a certified English teacher right away?

The 140-hour TESOL Certificate can prove one's teaching English ability only. They have to prove their English proficiency by their Diploma Degree/ IELTS Certificate/ CAE Certificate....
6. How is the 120-hour TESOL Program different from 140-hour TESOL Program?

The 140hrs TESOL program will also include 120hrs of online learning on the app and Zoom just like TESOL 120hrs but it has an additional 20-hour Teaching Practice period including Observation, Lesson Planning and Feedback, Demo Teaching and Feedback. In addition, the Teaching Practice section will be displayed on the certificate to make one's certificate stand out. However, currently HEW can only conduct 20 hours of Teaching Practice in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
7. What is the difference between the120-hour TESOL Program and the 350-hour Diploma TESOL program?

The 120-hour TESOL program is for those who are not yet a full-time English teacher or need to legalize their qualifications to work as an English teacher, while the 350hrs Diploma TESOL is for English teachers who have teaching experience and want to learn advanced pedagogy and to become a teacher trainer in the future.
